Guy Laroche - Paris Fall Winter 2011-2012
LaRoche's status in limbo (CBS News)
Though Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo has maintained all offseason that
Adam LaRoche will enter 2012 as the team's starting first baseman, recent
reports of free agent Prince Fielder landing in Washington have LaRoche
anticipating a possible move, according to MLB.com. "All I can tell you is, I
don't hold any grudges either way," LaRoche said Tuesday. "If [Fielder doesn't
sign with the Nationals] and I'm the guy, I'll be out there every day and
[will] do everything I possibly can. If it does [happen] and I need to move on
-- hey, it's a business move." If the Nationals did trade LaRoche, it likely
wouldn't be until spring training, after he had a chance to prove he was fully
recovered from the torn labrum and rotator cuff that sidelined him for the
final two-thirds of the 2011 season.
